Steps not counting correctly.

Updated this week

To ensure Wunderpar can track your steps accurately, your phone may need a quick setup adjustment with Apple Health or Google Fit. Please select your device below and follow the steps.

iPhone Users

iPhone 7 and newer

Please try the following:

  1. Update Wunderpar
Make sure you’re using the latest version of Wunderpar. We update regularly to improve accuracy and performance.

  2. Enable Background App Refresh
    Go to:
Settings > General > Background App Refresh
Find Wunderpar and ensure it is switched ON.
If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again.

  3. Check Low Power Mode
    Go to:
Settings > Battery > Low Power Mode
Low Power Mode can limit movement tracking. If it is ON, please open the Wunderpar app at least once every 12 hours.

  4. Time & Date Settings
Changing your system time or date can interrupt step tracking.
    Go to:
    Settings > General > Date & Time
    Ensure “Set Automatically” is enabled.
If your time was changed manually, reinstall Wunderpar after correcting it.

  5. Reinstall Wunderpar
    Uninstall and reinstall the app.
Important: Use the same log-in details so your progress is saved.

  6. Open Wunderpar Daily
Even with background tracking enabled, please open the app at least once or twice per day to keep the step engine active.

iPhone 6 and older

You can try the same steps above, but please note:

  • Older iPhones have limited sensors

  • Indoor walking may not be tracked accurately

  • Step conversion may be lower than expected

From iPhone 7 and newer, tracking improves significantly.

If tracking still does not work, it is likely due to hardware limitations on your device.

How Do I Enable or Disable Sharing With Apple Health?

To enable or disable sharing data from Garmin Connect to Apple Health:

  1. Open the Apple Health app.

  2. Select Summary (bottom left).

  3. Select your Profile Picture (top right).

  4. Select Apps and Services under Privacy.

  5. Select the Connect app.

  6. Toggle Categories on or off.

After enabling sharing, the Health app imports your past data going back up to two weeks.

If you initially declined to share data with Apple Health, you may need to grant permission from within the Connect app first:

  1. Open the Garmin Connect app.

  2. Select More.

  3. Select Settings.

  4. Select Connect Apps.

  5. Select Apple Health under "Available Apps."

  6. Select Connect with Apple Health.

  7. Select the items that Garmin Connect can access.

  8. Select Allow.

I Have Enabled Data from Garmin Connect to Be Shared But It Is Not Appearing in the Apple Health App

Garmin Connect must be open in the foreground to send data to Apple Health. If closed, the transfer pauses and completes only on the next sync performed while the app is open.

Apple Health can integrate data from multiple sources, but it uses a priority system when receiving the same type of data from more than one place. Only data from the highest-priority source (as listed in Apple Health settings) will be displayed. Therefore, if your Garmin Connect data isn't appearing even though sharing is enabled, you likely need to adjust Apple Health's data source priority to ensure Garmin Connect is ranked higher than other conflicting sources. For instructions on how to do this, see: Prioritize data sources in Apple Health.

Once your steps appear in Apple Health, Wunderpar will automatically detect them. After opening the Garmin Connect app, allow 5–10 minutes for Garmin to sync with Apple Health, and for Apple Health to sync with Wunderpar.

Android Users

  1. Update Wunderpar

Make sure you’re on the latest version of the app.

  2. Install Google Fit

Wunderpar uses Google Fit to receive your step data, so please ensure the Google Fit app is installed.

  3. Install Health Connect

Most newer Android devices already have Health Connect. If you’re on an older phone, install it from the Play Store.

  4. Check That Steps Are Being Logged

    1. Open Health Connect

    2. Go to Settings → search for “Health Connect”

    3. Under Recent Access, you should see Google Fit (or another fitness app you use) writing steps

    4. Tap See all recent access to confirm steps are being written

    5. Under App Permissions:

      1. Google Fit should have Write – Steps

      2. Wunderpar should have Read – Steps

  5. Disable Battery Restrictions

Battery or power-saving modes can block step tracking. In your device’s Battery Settings, make sure Wunderpar has No Restrictions.

  6. Open Wunderpar at Least Once Every 12 Hours

This keeps background tracking active and lets the app sync properly.

  7. Check Your Date & Time Settings

    1. Don’t manually change your phone’s date/time.

    2. Make sure Automatic Date & Time and Automatic Time Zone are enabled.

  8. Reboot Your Device

Restarting your phone often fixes background process or sync issues.

  9. Reinstall Wunderpar

Delete and reinstall the app using the same account. This resets the connection to Health Connect and Google Fit.

  10. Remove Other Step-Tracking Apps

Old or unused pedometer apps can interrupt step tracking. Remove any you don’t use.

On your Android device

  1. Install both apps: Ensure you have both the Health Connect app and the Garmin Connect app installed on your Android device.

  2. Open Health Connect: Launch the Health Connect app on your phone.

  3. Go to Data and permissions: Navigate to the "Data & permissions" tab.

  4. Find Garmin Connect: Look for Garmin Connect in the list of apps and tap on it.

  5. Enable data sharing: Grant permission for Garmin Connect to write data to Health Connect. This will likely involve toggling a switch or category for "Steps" and other desired metrics.

  6. Sync your data: Once permissions are granted, your data should begin to sync. A manual sync from the Garmin Connect app to your phone may be necessary to initiate the transfer.
